Known for Shelly Lake, But That’s Just a Taste

About:

Sharatin is well known for Shelly Lake via the North End Trail. Yes it's beautiful but it misses so much of what Sharatin has to offer. So we put together a nice link up of the two most popular trails on the mountain to showcase all this mountain has to offer.

Start Time and Cut off:

  • Start - 4pm, Friday June 20th.

  • Cut off - 5 Hours, volunteers and crew will be absent by 9pm.

Description:

This course begins on single track, starting up Red Cloud TH. This will quickly put you into the alpine, where shale and rock become the M.O. for 1/3 of the course. This rounded summit offers up quick running across shale, but be careful not to trip, as you just may be distracted by the 360-degree view. After summiting, you’ll move down into Shelly Lake, an absolute picnic of a spot. A quick climb out, and then it’s a hot trot down to the finish.

Weather:

The tolerance for poor weather is extremely high. In the event it's raining and possibly 0-0 at the summit, the race shall proceed.

If You're Gonna Sauce, Hot Sauce

About:

Pyramid mountain loop finishes off the Kodiak Mountain Series. Pyramid is a local favorite for a quick ski, hike or hunt.

Start Time and Cut off:

  • Start - 2pm, Saturday June 21st.

  • Cut off - 4 Hours, volunteers and crew will be absent by 6pm.

Description:

This course begins on single track up Pyramid mountain. You can expect clear green flagging where single track may split off in order to keep you on track. Once you summit you will head down the ridge eventually splitting off to the right. The trail here can often be missed, green flagging will keep you on track until you get back to single track. Once you hit the road you'll take a right and bring it home.

Weather:

The tolerance for poor weather is extremely high. In the event it's raining and possibly 0-0 at the summit, the race shall proceed.

Aid Stations:
Please watch the "Course Preview" video above as you'll see that once you come down you will hit the road. We will have an aid station here where you can grab a quick drink and such before the last 1.8 miles on the road. Given weather it may be reasonable to rip this race in nothing more than a shirt and shorts with a gulp of water at this aid

station.
